Still She Fights

Authors Note~ Soldier's Secret is a book about a women and her secret this piece
describes her story useing the writing technique Text Structure.

I want to live! Imagine this being the only thought in your head. While running into lines of fire that’s all you really can think. Deborah Sampson could not think of anything else but these four words, while at war. This was her motivation. If all she wanted to do was live then why did she play dead? She was planning on being buried alive. She was afraid of her secret being exposed.  Soldier's Secret written by the author Sheila Solomon Klass is the story of Deborah Sampson's life and her peculiar secret. Deb as kept her secret from her fellow comrades for about a year and a half now. Yet all good secrets must be revealed. This secret was not one Deb was proud of but she couldn't turn back. As soon as she threw on those breeches she was no longer the same person. In fact she wasn't the same gender. A man was what she now was.

Enrolled in the army she was ready for adventure. I wonder why she would want to even be dressed as a man in the first place. Didn't she understand that she would never be a heroine, though was her only dream. Why would she put herself in such grave danger? Deborah was not a brave girl but she shows bravery through her journey there is no way I could have been the only women in a tent full of men without tipping them of, making them suspicious, or fall in love. Romance was an issue for Deborah it’s the reason she was first discovered. Rodger a good friend was the first to realize she was a woman. He was really angry at Deb when he found out, but what was she going to do just tell him she was a girl and she wore breeches so that she could disguise herself as a man so she could fight for her country. Well she could of and she wanted to, but it really wasn't that easy. Women wearing britches back then was morally a sin. It dishonored women hood and was highly frowned apoun. She could have been hung for such a disguise. While the days got more brutal she understood the consciences, yet she didn't think they were all to fair due to the fact that her father’s cousin became a hero due to his womanly disguise. Also Paul Revere and John Handcock with their Indian disguises. Deborah had no doubt that she was going to get caught. She could just picture herself walking through town playing the whore's march, as she was hanged. Only to her surprise it did not happen that way at all.

After the doctor knew her secret he wrote a letter for her general, General Paterson.  Dr. Binney had only one request as she left his home. To personally hand this letter to the general. She did what she was told, but why? She knew how easy it could have been to tell the cab to go somewhere else but she went straight to West Point. Good thing she did because after the General read the letter and understood Deborah Sampson's story she was awarded with an honorable discharge from the war. Yet she wasn't to as happy as she would have been if she could have been honored as a women. Though she still hoped someday Deborah Sampson would be a heroine. In my eyes I see Deb as a heroine she a noble women and I respect her courage.

Secret Worth Keeping

Authors Note~ This piece describes the point of view in the historical fiction book Soldier's Secret.

Imagine men dying next to you. Laying there helpless, blood dripping down their face. Though your goal is to stay alive. While diesis spreading around like soft churned butter it is hard to be save out on the battle field.  Once I'll you must be sent to the infirmary, there you are surrounded by many other sick men. Laying on hay beds waiting for the nurses make their rounds, you worry.  Some may pretend to be dead like Robert Shurtliff, only then would he be put out of his misery,  the secret being reveled, his only fear.

The fear of her fellow tent mates finding out she was Deborah Sampson. From her point of view we learn to understand the different ways to interrupt the Revolutionary War. She helps us understand they way women were treated in the 1700's. They were pretty much treated like cattle, they did everything for the mean cooked, cleaned, and all the errands. Yet they were never recognized, only their husbands. Deb wants that to change. She shows us the difficulty for a young women living in this time period. Since she was a give- away child she also under stood the rules of slavery. She was not allowed to be able to read, but she was able to learn her letters. Not being able to read that’s non-sense. She still did it anyways, also she taught her friend Jennie who was the slave of the house, how to read the Bible. This all goes to show women were not allowed to do anything.  Plus Deb saw everything from a different prospective. She didn’t want to be that little women standing over the oven all day and night. She wanted to be a hero. Tough this was highly frowned upon considering the fact she is female.

All though this story is not written in the doctor’s point of view, what if it was? There would be no view of any battle scenes. We would be missing out on all the action and feeling behind Deborah's story. The doc knows everything about Deb. She wrote it all down for him; still we are yet to understand how she felt as a woman in her situation. The reason is because he is a male. As a male he will not understand the struggle of the women in which he is caring for.  As a man he will be able to understand why she thought it was so important to be in the war. Or why exactly she needed to go to the extreme of actually taking over a male figure. The doctor has a daughter or two. So he must find it unbelievable for any mother to allow her daughter to dress as a man and pursue such a dreadful deed in which a young woman shouldn't be allowed. He is a protective father he wants his daughters to know nothing about the soldier in their attic. So the doctor's story would have less meaning in regards to the message Deborah Sampson is trying to send.

I am actually glad that this book is in the point of view of Deborah because it gives us a bit of an understanding of the women’s lives back in that time era. For any man to try to even come close to understanding is impossible. That’s why I enjoy what Deborah’s thoughts are. Also her adventure is magnificent it really grabs the reader. They want to know what happens to her next. They wonder if she will survive. As do I.

If Only You Knew

Authors Note~After reading the book The Outsiders I analyzed one of the three themes of the story and the one I picked out was stereotyping.

Have you ever experienced every staring at you as you walk down the hallways at school? You wonder what they are speculating. You have no idea what they are thinking; still you become a little self-conscience. Those classmates of yours, well they're sitting there stereotyping you. Ponyboy knows exactly how that feels. Ponyboy gets to tell his story in the novel The Outsider. This greaser gets judged every day just because of the way he looks. No wonder one of the main themes of this story turns out to be stereotyping.

Stereotyping is a huge part of this book.  First of all we have the greasers, white trash with greasy hair. Then there's the socs, white trash with mustangs and madras. These are the two gangs who are at war though out this story. These gangs are very similar to the rivalry between jocks and geeks. In this case the greasers would be the geeks and the socs would be the jocks. The geeks always get beat up on just because they're smart. Big deal!  Just because they don't wear the most fashionable cloths and don't know all the football stats for the season doesn’t mean there weird and you can't talk to them. Oh, turns out not all jocks are jerks some of them happen to be very nice just because they were super cool cloths and spend a lot of time with friends, doesn’t mean you wouldn't ever be able to carry on a descent conversation with them. They are people just like me and you they all have feelings, we all  just express them  in our own way.

Since every one express their feelings differently the greasers have an overly aggressive way of showing theirs. Or do they? Dallas Winston was the one greaser that followed the rules of a stereotyped greaser. He was locked up when he was 10 years old. Always getting in gang fights while he lived in New York, once he moved down south that never changed. Dally's story reminds me of an article I read about a man who got caught up in drug dealing at age 13 and it was hard for him to stop it was his 3rd visit to prison that really opened his eyes to something more affective with his life. He became a professor, teaching kids about black history. He was lucky to be able to get a job. Just imagine how hard it is to get a job after you commit a crime of any sort. All your employers judge you and may be scared of you. Wouldn't that just be offal?

All though people can turn their lives around it takes time for  them to realize what they can do to change. Ponyboy was always optimistic and he saw everything in a different view. He was always wondering why the socs have to hate the greasers. Just because they wear jean jackets and grease their hair back.  Sounds ridicules but that’s all they know about these boys. The socs will never understand how the greasers live. They don't know about all the family flaws. They don't know that Ponyboy's parents were killed in a car crash. They have no idea what it's like to be ignored and abused by their parents the way Johnny does. The worst part about Johnny's situation at home is that he says he doesn’t mind when his dad yells at him and beats him up because it reassures him that his dad knows he's there.

These boys have a rough life they can't help it. Ponyboy wants to change it, he does he knows it's not fair. Although Ponyboys "friend" Randy reassured him, that no matter what socs will still be socs and greasers will still be greasers. It doesn’t matter. But why should he stop trying. He has a chance to change things he could be a hero. Just like the way he was when he saved those children from that burning church. No one could believe that a greaser could ever do that. Well that’s the kind of reaction he wants. That helps prove to people that stereotyping is a waste of time because people may surprise you.

You No My Name Not My Story

Authors Note~ This is a piece I had to write for LA it is describing one of the themes in the book The Outsiders . The theme I am writing about is defying stereotyping.

My name? Ponyboy a.k.a. Greaser. My story well that’s something more complex. As I was growing up I never really had parents. Of course I had "family", but no mom or dad to love me and be proud of me when I came home from school with a good grade. Instead I had my older brother Darry. I know that he only wants the best for me and he wants to make sure I am save, but when you run around this town with the word greaser written across your face it is hard to stay save. That’s why us greaser have to stick together. What I have always been wondering though, what makes us different from everyone else why are we the outsiders? Is it the way we comb our hair, or possibly the leather jackets? I think it's the jackets. Well what does that exactly have to do with the type of person I am. Bet you couldn't tell by looking at me that I love to read. You probably would think I dropped out of school my 7th grade year. Well I didn't my brother would kill me. My brother wants me to stay in school because he couldn't. Ever since mom and dad died he wasn't able to stay in school any longer, he had to drop out to take care of me. In Darry's school life he was considered a Soc, one of our now found enemies. Can you believe it, my brother a Soc.? Yet what is so bad about them I mean my brother was one. He played football and he got good grades. Then all that disappeared and now all the sudden he was a greaser. Just because he couldn't go to school anymore or be the star on the football team he was a bad person, but the one thing never changed his personality. He is strong willed and sticks to his dissections no turning back. All he wants is the best for the people he cares about and that is us boys.  My poor brother had to grow up to fast. He did the only thing he could do start a new family. Though we aren't liked by a lot of people in town live our lives the way we know how. It is not our fault that we can’t pay for fancy clothes or drive around in mustangs. That is something we cannot control so why is that the biggest thing we get judged apoun? I'll tell you why that is. It is because people like to be stereotypical. For example if you are rich you are snobby and stuck up. If you are poor you are a rebel or a no body, sound familiar? Also if you are athletic you're a jerk maybe a show off and if you are smart you are a geek or socially awkward. These might be examples of you or people you know, but it is not true for everyone, especially me . The only guy in our gang that really commits to our  stereotype is Dallly. Jail bird at 10 years old sticks to his rep. He is a bad kid but yet he too has a soft spot. We all do but no one seems to see it because they are all to worried we are going to toss a switch blade out at them.  I think the world needs to take a step back and look at the world from a different point of few. My point of view because I see everything from here. On the outside.

The Insiders

Authors Note~ This is what on chapter might look like if  a Soc was narrating "The Insiders"

Chapter One
The sun was hot beating against my skin while standing on the corner of Hickory Way. Yet I was not alone of course. I had my gang. We were top dog and we all knew that, we could do whatever we want and get away with it. Me and my boys ran this town and everyone new it even the Greasers.  Those no good little miss fits. Always causing trouble around here. Those little grubs with nothing to do.  Those Greasers are like the bruised apples on the ground by an apple tree getting  kicked around all day.  Then there's us Socs the ripe apples on the way top, no on can touch us. Our big brother Bob who happened to be my blood related brother was the leader of our group. He was strong willed and always lead our fights to victory. He was the best brother ever he could lead. He thought me all about being a great leader all the essentials I may need. I knew everything he knew I examined carefully every gang fight we were a part of. I never knew that my knowledge of being a leader would ever get me the name so soon. But that little pest, Ponyboy and his friend had killed my brother. If they are smart they will never show there faces around this town again. Knowing I am now in charge of the Socs plus  I am good at planning revenge. These Greasers wont stand a chance.

Got Pride?

Author's note: This is a short paragraph to summarize the question; are you proud of your country?

Got pride? We do. As Americans are all proud of were we live. Even if we aren’t, we love our home we love the way we live, we love our families. We also love the fact that we are free. No other country can say that. We have the freedom to speak our own words. We don't have to be told what to do. We have our on opinions. We are responsible for our actions. We are also a well developed country. We have the on of best inventions of all time…. Toilet paper. Doesn't seem so great when we think of it but some parts of  country's don't even have toilet paper. Although we do have a lot of other cool gadgets like iPods, cell phones, and computers. But toughs are  just extra's. We are also well developed with our government. We have a president. Who makes the laws. Laws just help to make sure that nothing goes out of control. Honestly I would rather have a few laws then having to do exactly what one person tells me to do. I love my country. I love being free.

What's Next?

Authors note~ prediction piece

Jenna Kelley, Amanda Beeson, Tracey Devon. All just names. Right? Well there names of three girls that are completely different from each  other. But yet they have one thing in common. There "gifted." No lie, Jenna can read minds, Tracy can make her self Invisible,  and Amanda can switch bodies with people.  Gifted, Out of Sight, Out of Mind first book in the series written by  author Marilyn Kaye. Tells all about Amanda's story and how she encounters her gift and how she gets placed in this gifted class with other kids not so like her.  But that's not important. Gifted, Better Late Than Never   focuses on the story of a different girl, it's Jenna Kelley's turn. Wonder what she has in store.

This book starts off telling us how Jenna's life has changed in the last month. And about how her mom was but in rehab again because of her drinking problem. So Jenna would have to be sent to another foster home. She was not to excited about that. Until she found out were she was staying for the next two weeks. Tracey Devon's house. Again these girls are completely different. Jenna is an only child of a single mom. She lived in Brookside Towers. The name makes it sound fancier then it turns out. Then there's  Tracey she lives in a big house filled with 7 other little sisters. Jenna was kind of excited to be staying with her because they new each other through there gifted class and they new a little bit about each other.  And no matter how much Jenna hated to admit she kinda liked the girl. She can trust her.

Although Tracey can be treated she is not sure about the man who turns up to her school a couple days later trying to tell her the he is her father. She was called down to the principles office. Unsure of the reason. She walked into the room and this random man was sitting there. The principle introduced him as Stuart Kelley. She didn't believe him. She couldn't there was no way. Here dad left her mother along time ago. Why is he back again? There was no way she was convinced that this was really happening. She at least agreed to letting this stranger over to the Devon's house for dinner. Maybe the could help her determine weather this man could sincerely be her father.

What's next? Well I have an idea. I think this man is actually her long lost father. But I'm afraid he maybe hiding something. I'm not sure what though. I am pretty sure Jenna doesn't want to believe this is her actual father who walked out on her mom how ever many years ago, but in a sense she does. There is a chance that he really has been looking for her. But I wonder what her mom is going to have to say when she gets out of rehab and hears about Stuart back in town . I'm thinking there might be a fight and he might leave and go back to California. But who knows. I'm kind of excited to find out what truly happens.

Soaring High

Authors note~ This is just a creative piece about a super hero

The breeze running through my hair. The resistance of air pushing against my body. Wondering what this city would do with out me. If you haven't guessed I am the most amazing super hero. Super man stole my name so I stuck with Billy-bob Joe-bob III. Yup, that's me. I have helping out citizen's ever since I found out I had the ability to fly. My mother told me that when I was younger I use to sleep fly. I would walk up in the middle of the night and start flying  around the whole house. She also said I knew how to fly  before I knew how to walk. I wasn't aware of my gift until I was quit a bit older. It happened at our last little league baseball game. Someone from the apposing team was up to bat and he hit a nice pop fly to right field just over my head. Impossible for anyone to catch it. Then all the sudden the ball was sitting in my glove . I remember watching the crowd's jaws drop  in synch. At first I was a little confused until I realized why they were all looking at me with disbelieve on there face. Then all the sudden a rower of claps came from the bleacher's. It was like I won the Nobel prize or something. Ever since that day my life changed it is now my duty to make sure that everyone is save in my city and to minimize the percentage of crimes. I Have been doing a good job. It has been 7 yea- Wait what's that  a cry for help I have to go sorry for the in convince. Bye.

Wrapped Up

Authors note~ this is a creative non essay poem

Wrapped in your arms
So comfy cozy
It's unreal
Sitting in silence not word to be spoken
For all is heard is our hearts  beating
Together like a symphony
Every beat makes me smile
To know your mine
To know your real
Time passes but yet no changes
You and I
We are still here
Forever in your arms
Forever in my heart

Back To The Way Things Were

A lot has changed in the past school year, I turned 14, I am now labeled as an 8th grader no longer a sevie. We have new teachers and new additions to our schools. All though one thing that should not have changed is resource.

Now that resource is set up differently it is more difficult to get my homework finished without distractions, such as non homework related conversations, and a not so quite atmosphere. Plus sometimes I don't have enough time to complete my homework because we have to bond with our resources which is counterproductive more than half the time. It was so much easier when resource was our independent time  to catch up on our assignments. It made me feel more mature because I was able to get what I needed done on my own time. It gave us the benefit of our questions being answered by the teacher who assigned the work.

A lot of kids really depended on resource because they have an extra-circular of some sort after school. Sometimes kids have a lot of things after school and they don 't have time to start the homework. If teachers gave us more time in class that would be helpful, but some teachers like to give us home work 5 minutes before the bell rings. So resource would help with finishing that up. It was a major help when someone missed a day out sick or on vacation. Gave them the chance to get caught up on missing work and quiz's. For example I missed 10 days of school so now I am behind 4 quiz's and I don't have time to relearn the lesson I missed because there isn't enough class time. Resource would help with that issue. You just go ask your teacher what was missed and  they break it down to help you through it. Now there isn't any more of that.

Honestly I don't know the reasoning behind why it changed but I do know that it should change back to the way it was.  I guess it makes sense for each student to socialize with other groups of people but why can't we pick one day out of the week that we have to bond with our resource class and teachers. Like every Friday. It makes sense to do it that way because we get our work done and questions answered and we still get to bond with our resource.

As an 8th grader I am also angry at the subject because there is no more honors resource. That was an award for all 8th graders who get there work done and have good grades. With out honors there isn't anything to look forward to. Yeah, a brighter future but as middle school students that isn't as important to us as getting to have honors resource. I think we have earned it. That was one thing I was looking forward to when I was a 7th grader. Once I have a chance to actually be apart of it it gets taken away doesn’t seem to fair to me.

I know I can't be the only one who feels this way. I Know a lot of 8th graders are with me on this. So why can't it just change back? Why did it change? It should go back to the way it was. Don't you agree?

Casey's Loss

Dear Casey,
I am your number one fan! I have never missed one of your games. Casey you are an amazing player, but of course you knew that already. It showed at the last game, I was very disappointed in how you took that strike out. You were my role model for as long as I can remember. What were you thinking? You lost the game for us you know. You could have easily hit a nice single to right field and send Johnnie and Flynn home for a tie. Then Scottie could have batted you both home, but no you had to be a big headed jerk and not swing at the first two pitches they were perfect straight down the middle if you would have swung you most likely would have knocked it out of the park. I have seen you play and I know you can hit the ball. We could have had the most amazing grand slam of all time. You could have got into the hall of fame. We would have pulled through with a victory of 6-4 Mudville. You would have been my hero. Did you ever think of that? You played well all season so what happened?

Sincerely Your Not So Number One Fan,
Alex Hultine

Dear Alex,
I got your letter and I wanted to let you know I am very sorry for letting you down.
I can tell you now what’s going on when it comes to me and the Mudville’s. We had a good season haven’t we? So you want to know what I was thinking. I was thinking since we got this far with the wins that we had we could have made it through the game no problem. But my biggest flaw was not swinging. I let my whole team down and even worse I let my fans down. I made a horrible mistake. And I heard all about it in the locker room. That pitcher was psyching me. Of course that was the idea but I didn’t have enough time to actually turn my self around to swing. That last strike was such a heart breaker. Everyone expected way more from me and I could give them way more than what I did. I am sorry for letting you down Alex, but I promise next year will be a season to remember.

Sincerely you’re Soon To Be Hero,
Casey

Steven Tyler

“Dream until your dream comes true”

The powerful lyrics of singer/song writer Steven Tyler also known as the “Demon of Sceamin.” Dream On is one of Aerosmith’s signature songs recorded on their first album. Tyler was the lead singer of this well known band. They are a pretty famous band. Seems easy starting a band, right? Write words on paper sing to them and have fun performing in front of tons of people. Well it takes a little more than that. It takes a lot of hard work and practicing. Being in the spotlight the crowd cheering your name sounds like a dream. Steven Tyler was lucky to have this wonderful experience.

Born March 26, 1948 Steven Victor Tallarico was a son of his proud parents. His mother was a secretary, his father a music teacher. The fact that Tyler’s father was a music teacher he was able to benefit from that. His father was also a pianist and he taught his son how to play piano, he was also able to play harmonica and percussion. Before the days of Steven Tyler lead singer of Aerosmith he started of smaller, he decided he wanted to be in a band when he was in Boston. He played the drums for the longest time. Then he decided he wanted to focus on his singing career. He worked hard to get what he wanted it wasn’t just handed to him and I respect that in a person. I really don’t like when people don’t have the talent to be famous but they are any way. A lot of people try for success and some succeed but same may not and they may get knocked out by someone who isn’t nearly as good.

With all his talent Tyler got far in his life, with all the albums they got recorded, all the fans. Then Tyler decided he wanted to go a different way and the band said no. The band fell apart. Soon after, Tyler started up on some pretty heavy drugs. He eventually went to rehab but that wasn’t the answer. He ended up in rehab 3 more times after that. Once Tyler was sworn to be a changed man the band was able to get back together and made a miraculous comeback.

Recently Steven Tyler has been one of the new judges on American Idol. I really like how he judged he wasn’t rude at all when they voted people off. He always told them to hold on to their dreams. He is very inspiring and also very unique. Just the way his raspy voice sounds when he sings it is amazing. Also the way he presents himself, the cloths he wears, his hair, and he always has scarves on his microphone like a trade mark. I really enjoy his music and his support to everyone’s dreams.

Steven Tyler was able to live the dream that everyone has. He lived it well he might have slipped up a little but he was able to get back on his feet and show the world how dreams can come true. It takes a lot of hard work and practice but they can be mastered.

Do you ever think of what the future will be like?
You never know what's going to happen...
For all i know, the next minute we could get bombed
Something out of the ordinary
Some things you just can't figure out
Not even the smartest people on earth! Can tell what the future will be like...
Well, Except God, cause he knows everything
but, don't you wish... that for once in your life
You will be able to answer this one simple question
No more "What ifs"
Because all you want is that question...answered
Do you ever wonder, that after it's answered, that you'll have a sense of freedom?
or...just a sense of fear?
everyone wonders about it sometime
about that one confusion
 that one question
"What happens next?"

Thoughts of you...

What do I see when I look at you? I look deep into your eyes, but it's like fogged glass, I can't see through. I can't find the real you. It seems as though you hide someone I don't know somewhere inside. It hurts me to know you think that you can't tell me the you I want to know. Even though I can't see what you have seen I am always here to help. Even though I would like to say from the outside you are confusing from the inside out I wonder about you. A question mark on my face. I sit and wonder. The words you say, the way you act is so different than what I would expect. Your smile so brilliant hiding the stories of your life. It's hard to understand when it doesn't make sense. From what I know you are kind and caring. Nice and friendly. This what goes through my mind when I look at you. So what do you think when you look at me?

Spy

Quiet and desiving
Sneaky and believing
One identity
Two identitys
Look one more
Not one name
To many to count
The newest gear
The best for years

Always on the inside
The eye of a spy
But is it what it's cracked up to be
Always dodging death left and right
Betraying and being betrayed
Over and over there's no way to stop
It's not a job
It's a lifestyle

Dream Vacation

I want to escape
Far from here
No where near
Far far away
Some where I want to stay
Were the sun is so vibrant
And the sky's are blue
The air warm full of comfort
Just bundling you up with it's love
I want to be able to watch the sunset
While sitting on the beach
My feet submerged in the cool ocean waves
Surrounded by the pearl white sand
I want to experience a dream
Something no one would be able to imagine

Water

The rush
The feel
Exhilarating
The wind in your hair
Makes you want to jump
To bad you can't
You're stuck
You can't move until
You run and leap into the clear blue sky
You feel like your flying
Than gravity takes over then you are falling
And right be for you hit the ground
SPLASH!
Into the clear blue
Cold against your skin
Soon your wrapped in the blanket of the water
You feel comforted until your lungs are about to exploed
You finally find your way to the surface
The sight of were you just jumped comes into view
Unbelievable
The risk of that jump
Was it worth it?

The Ending to a Perfect Year(:

As a student I watch and learn
Try to be heard
I have a voice
I have a choice
In middle school I am glad to say
I have enjoyed every day
But the end is drawing near
The end to a perfect year
But do not worry
For I'll be back again
My 7th grade year has come to an end
But next year my friend
Ill be back in 8th grade
Older and wiser
Filled with ease
Maybe next year will be the best
We will have to wait and see

Here I lay waiting for you to stay.
I think this is the day you throw me away.
You’re growing up.

You are to old.
You can never hold on to someone like me.
How can you stand the sight of me?
I am just a memory.
Of how we used to be.
When we use to laugh and play.
But now that has gone away.
So why must we pretend like there is more here.
I fear we are done, my dear.
This is goodbye

Monolauge; Teddy Bear

Authors note; a object monologue

It’s so dark and stuffy in here. Couldn’t I open a window or something? Maybe some Febrees?  It’s not like you ever open this stupid box. Ugh I’m trapped in here with that annoying baby doll Tammy she never stops talking. And do you know how dark it is in here? What if I turned off all your lights and stuffed you in a small compartment that’s all crowded? How would you like it? Huh?!  Doesn’t sound too pleasant? Well it’s not! I am stuck in here all day. I miss the tea party’s we always had on Sunday mornings and our conversations we always had. Remember Kyle your crush in 2nd grade. Haven’t heard much about him lately. How’s he doing? Oh and how about that girl who has been bullying you since kindergarten. You always use to share your secrets with me but now I have been replaced with your new “BFF”. I mean I want a BFF too, but nooooo I’m stuck talking to this baby doll. All she ever talks about is how neglected she is. Why can’t I get any sympathy around here. I have one eye for goodness sake.  And don’t get me started on who gets played with more. I mean who wants to play with some rundown teddy bear. No one, no one does! I guess I’ll just sit in here and suffer a little bit longer.

Criminal Minds

I really like the show Criminal Minds. I think it's really a great show to watch. I watch it a lot with my parents. Also NCIS and CSI all those shows. I really like to watch them because when I get older I would either want to be a lawyer or a forensic scientist. These shows really interest me.

Lions

Authors note: picture writing

 King of the jungle
Guardian of all animals
Leader of all who follows
But you have to read between the lines
Power the most abused thing in this world
What if you had it all
The power
The name
The crowed
The fame
All in your reach
How would you use it
                                                          For good
                                                           Or for evil
                                                                        The choice is yours

Garboligy

Fork, toy train ornament, Q tip, cotton ball, French onion, band aide and a screw.

There once was a toy train ornament who got delivered to a house in the middle of New Jersey. When the family left for their Christmas trip he sat silently on the tree. He heard talking down the hall...he didn't know any one that would be in the house. Curious he swished and squirmed and ended up on the floor. As he wobbled over to the kitchen where he hear the sound, he saw a fork and some french onion soup having a conversation. He thought he was the only one that could talk, he never knew anyone else could talk besides him and the humans. He quietly wobbled towards them. The both turned and looked at him. "Hello!! How are you this fine day??" said the fork. "I'm Swell..thanks for asking." I replied. Then the fork asked where i was from. I told him the tree and we all decided to be friends. When we walked towards the living room we heard something in the work room. "What was that? It sounded like people?" I asked. They both smiled and said "That's Jerry and Ferrel, they non stop argue about who's more important, come we'll introduce you." We walked into the room and on a big chair was an old screw and a band aide yelling that they were better. "Hey!!" said the Fork. They both turned and looked at me. "Hello there!" said the band aide named Jerry. "Hi" i replied as Ferrel gave me a quick nod. Then they jumped down and came back out there with us. BUMP BUMP BUMP. I looked at the soup and he smiled. "Come on there's two others I'd like you to meet." he said. We walked upstairs and saw a Q-tip and a cotton ball trying to pick up the soap that they accidentally pushed over. "Well howdy do?" said the cotton ball. "Im Casey" he smiled. "And im Derek" said the Q-Tip. I smiled in response. They followed us and we all sat down for a great Christmas dinner.

Flowers

A leave
A petal

A flower
Blooming in the fresh spring air
Opening its eyes to a brand new year
Beautiful
And
Lovely
So wonderful you see
But why can't we be as beautiful as thee

Determination

Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts. In the short story “The Hundredth Dove” by Jane Yolen, Hugh is the king’s loyal fowler, not one who would disappoint the king. Hugh, a kind hearted man always obeyed the king. No matter what he always carried out his tasks as given. Then one day he was sent out to catch one hundred doves for the king’s upcoming wedding. Hugh was one of the best fowlers in the land and caught ninety-nine doves in the first five days. Huge couldn’t catch one dove. It was different compared to the others. Hugh wouldn’t give up until he caught that one white dove, because he was feeding off his determination to please the king.
The fowler would never do anything to anger the king he always did as commanded. No matter how hard the task was. He lived by the motto Servo “I serve.” He was, how do you say it, he was… Determined. He was able to wake up every morning and love to do what he does and when he pleases the king it makes him feel ten times better. He loves being out in the woods with all the animals, it’s like his home. In the story they describe how he knows the woods like a loved one he knows every tree and every bush.
Hugh may have been determined but he was as gentle as mother is to her child. He never wanted to harm any of the birds. This was obvious just in the way that he would catch these birds. He made a hand woven silk net so he could lightly toss it over the smaller birds and he used a bow for the larger birds, but he never actually shot them. He would never want to cause them any pain. His job was to catch them not kill them. So Hugh did his job. He has never killed a bird in his live. That is until he gets a slap in the face, which shows him that being determined isn’t always the greatest thing in the world.
Determination may end in devastation. Hugh found this out the hard way. He was so determined to get a hold of the one white dove he got upset, which made him want it more. Soon he found the beautiful bird in his hands. Maybe it wasn’t a bird. The author made me kind of curious in the way she described this fine bird, and the king’s future queen. Black eyes. That’s what tipped me off, they both had black eyes. Also the queen did not want the king to serve the birds at their wedding. Then when Hugh finally caught the white dove, she spoke to him, the queen. She asked to be released. She said if he were to let her free the queen would be his true love, this was another clue. But Hugh wouldn’t listen. The next day he had presented ninety-nine living birds to the king, also there was one stiff bird that no longer had a pulse. Huge had strangled the white dove in his own hands. Huge would never forgive himself for what he had done to that poor bird.
Even though the fowler carried out his task and gave the king hundred birds, the wedding was canceled; maybe because the bird was the king’s fiancé.  All Hugh wanted was to please the king he never wanted to hurt the bird.  He was devastated, he gave up hunting. He lived off of berries for the rest of his life. He never wanted to hurt another dove.

L-O-V-E

Love is easy to say
But not all that easy to show
It seems as though we always hurt the ones we love the most
We can't always make everyone happy
But we must always keep the ones we love close to are hearts
We may say it
We may mean it
But there is no easy way to say I Love You with out saying it

Authors note~ metaphor poem about me.

Perfect

Have you ever heard of Bulimia? Do you actually have an understanding of what it is? Well in the book Perfect by Natasha Friend Isabelle has Bulimia. Isabelle is the main character in the book she is 13 years old. Her and her family are trying to get over there grief of her fathers death. Isabelle sadly turned to food. And now she has a eating disorder called Bulimia.

Although people with Bulimia try to keep it a secret Isabelle had gotten caught by her medaling little sister, who ratted her out to her mother. From then on out Isabelle made a "deal" with her mom and was forced to go to group, Once a week she was stuck in a " Eating Disorder and Body Image Therapy Group."  I don’t disagree with her mother in the aspect of making her daughter go to group. I mean if I found out that my daughter was forcing her self to trough up I would of done the same, she obviously needs help. I also understand that Isabella is depressed because of her fathers passing, and she doesn't feel like she can talk about it with anyone but I really think that her mother should try to help her through it and not force her into group right away I think just have a talk with her and if she doesn't stop then go t a second solution such as group

Some people think that Bulimia is kind of like Anorexia but it isn't they are both eating disorder but they are completely different. For example one who maybe Anorexic doesn't eat all they completely starve themselves. While Bulimic people eat a lot. They eat almost everything in sight but after words they wood make themselves  either through up or they would use Ex Lax to flush out there system. Most people with Bulimia try to keep it a secret because it is not something to be proud of. They just do it because all they want to do is eat but they no if they eat t much they get fat so then all they do is through it up so they don’t have to gain that extra weight.

It is quiet sad to know that so many girls my age are Bulimic. I would never think of doing that to my self but I guess you cant help it sometimes. It is interesting that the girls in the book that were Bulimic the problem had to do with family in a sense.  I am glad that there are ways these girls /guys can get help it is just a sad thing to her about. I mean if you had a friend that you knew was Bulimic you would one be really grossed out and two you would be really worried and try to help them out. And just that might help just be there try to help them through it that’s all Isabelle needed and she go it through group. She was able to talk about her feelings and end up stop throwing up.

Childhood Memory

I remember when I was younger my dad had this one car. (i don't remember the kind) It was red. I was always bugging him to let me sit in the front seat. So the one time he let me we got in a car accident. Nothing two severe but it was still scary.I was not in a car seat either I just had a seat belt. From this experience i have learned that sitting in the front seat when you are around 2 years old is not the brightest idea. So now that when I am older I will never let my child sit in the front seat until they are older. I will also make sure that they are in a boaster seat.

I am not quite sure exactly why I still remember this event but I do. I don't really remember that much. I remember bits and pieces. Like I remember that my dad rear ended somebody. After that all I remember was my stomach hurt really bad like a boxer punched me with all there force. Then the police where there  and i got a stuffed animal.( A koala bear) Then my uncle drove me home with all my cousins. That's all I remember. But thanks two my dad i have learned a few things. Such as don't rear end someone, also don't let your two year old daughter sit in the front seat, and keep your child in a boaster seat. Also where your seat belt. tisk tisk Dad.

Shoes

There are many different kind of shoes. My favorite shoes are Osiris. They are skate shoes. I like them because they are very colorful ad I like the style. One store you can buy them from is Journeys. Journeys is a pretty cool shoe store. They have all the new sickest shoes. I really like buying my shoes from there. All though I love going to Journeys I like going to Women's Footlocker and looking at some Nikes . I love the cool Air 2.0 Nikes. Use to have a pair of lime green Air 2.0s, they were so beats but than I lost one of them. Just one. I bought them when I went to Mall Of America the summer of 5th grade. I think I most of lost it when I changed for one of my cheerleading practices. But ever since then I never saw it again. I still have the other one though. I really want to get a new pair of Nike's but my mommy wont let me because I'm not "responsible". But now I have a pair of Osirs' and I'm happy.

Kitty

Hello my name is Billy-bob Joe-bob III and this is my pet penguin named Kitty. Kitty is an exotic blue penguin. She is the only blue penguin in the world except for her mom, dad, 5 sisters and 16 brothers. Her family was split up at birth and they live in all different parts of the world. You are one of the most luckiest people in the world if one of these penguins have choose to be your pet. I happen to be one of those lucky ones. Not only are these creatures super cool looking they have super powers. They can talk! And they can fly. It is so cool to have a pet you can actually talk to.(: I really like having kitty as a bet she is so fun. All though I am one of the lucky chosen ones Kitty has to stay in hiding because there are a lot of different exotic animals that are trying to kill her and her family . Such as the Chipacabra. The Chipacabra has been hunting down these Blu Penguins for a while now. So as a owner I have to protect her from all harm. I have Chipacabra traps set up all over my backyard. Also we have to keep the Blu Penguins hidden from humans because if they were to find out they might start hunting them down and try to kill them. And every year once a year we all come together and have a huge dinner and eat together all the owners and penguins. It's cool to see who the penguins decided to be there protectors. The age range is unbelievable it ranges from 4 years old to 87 years old. Okay well im going to have to go now I just caught another Chipacabra see ya later.

"The Third Wish" Essay Responce

Imagine if you could have three wishes. What would you wish for? In the short story "The Third Wish" by Joan Aiken, Mr. Peters the main character in this story helps untangle a swan from a bush. And carries it and sets it back into the canal. No big deal right. Then all the sudden the swan turns into a king and gives Mr. Peters three wishes as an award for helping him. He gave him three leaves to represent his wishes. Mr. Peters didn't really need to use his wishes but he decided using one and it ended up being two. Mr. Peters didn't want to use his last wish probably because he didn't need to and he was trying to show the king that he wasn't greedy

Mr. Peters used his one wish right away. He was happy with his wish for the longest time but than he felt as if his wish wasn't very happy anymore and he was questioning if he should use his second wish to make her happy again. As I see it he should use the second wish on her. His first wish was a wife as beautiful as the forest and that’s what he got. When he said that my first thought was that the king was going to try to trick Mr. Peters and give him a wife that looks like a tree or a bush. But he got a very beautiful wife. But over time she started to seem sad and Mr. Peters couldn't figure out why she was so unhappy. Shortly he found out why she was so sad. He felt bad and he wanted to use his second wish to make her happy but she refused to let him to do that. Probably because she was trying to be strong.

All though she was trying to show that she could be strong, MR. Peters new how sad she was, and against her wishes he used one of his wishes and he turned her back into a swan. She felt bad that he used the wish on her. It was obvious they where still both happy. Even though she was no longer human she would still swim up the river with her sister just to see him. They still had a strong relationship. Mr. Peters still had a strong passion for her and he still loved her.

Mr. Peters wasn't going to use up his last wish on a new wife because he still had Letia and he could never do that to her. I thought that was such a great thing for him to do. I mean he could easily wished up a new wife but he didn't because he loves Letia.

Mr. Peters didn't even use his last wish. He said that two wishes where enough for him . His life was already good he had a little taste of the magic and it brought happiness in his life but also it took it away and he didn't want to seem greedy. Legend says that he died in his sleep with the leave of the last wish and a swans feather in hand.

Essay Responce

In the short story “The Sleeping Beauty In The Forest” By Berlie Doherty the mode of literature is easy to pick out. All of the symbolism was there. The mode of literature was obviously romance.
Following the romance mode of literature this short story there was a small conflict. The conflict was that that the Fairy of Shadows set a curse on the princess and she had to sleep for 100 years. So the story also had to end in life symbolism. At the end the prince saved the princess by a kiss then asked the princesses hand in marriage.
Also it might have been a romance because it was fantasy; unrealistic. Also there were roses and roses are symbolism for romance and also the bird was symbolism for this mode. It took place in a castle which made tied in with the romance mode because that would be considered luxurious and that also symbolizes the mode of romance. And last but not least towards the end when they were describing how the bird gave the prince the key the author described how the sky lightens up into a lovely blue. Light blue skies are a clue that it could be romance.
From this information and clues you can piece them together and easily figure out that the mode of literature was romance.

Essay Responce

How would you handle being the only girl living with 7 boys? In the book Megan Meade’s Guide to the McGowan boys by Kate Brain, Megan is your average all American teenage girl. She isn’t the type of girl who has to wear make up to feel pretty or favorite colors pink or is on the varsity cheerleading team. As a matter of fact she is the complete opposite. She hates having makeup on her face she absolutely hates the color pink and she loves soccer. She is a very quite girl most of the time, who doesn’t really speak her mind. She was always polite to everyone. Until she moves in with the McGowan’s, that’s a chaotic household of 7 boys. In the end they change Megan in a way that was unbelievable. You never saw it coming.
Megan is a well educated girl. She gets good grades in school yada yada so on so forth. Then comes the drama at home. As you no she lives with 7 boys, living with 7 boys is really hard for Megan because she is somewhat a quite girl. And all the boys want is for her to leave there house. They try to make her feel bad say mean things play dumb little immature pranks on her but Megan tries to ignore it. It was obvious that the boys were starting to get under her skin. All she wanted was a chance to warm up to the guys a little get to know them a little more and try not to do anything stupid to make them hate her more.

Since she was staying with the McGowan’s during the end f the summer she would have to go to school with the boys for the year. The boys ignored her in school and didn’t want to even be seen with her. So eventually she had to make her own friends. There where try outs for soccer that day and that’s where she found some of her friends. Aimee ended up being her best friend. Not only did she find enemies on the soccer team or enemy. Her name was Hailey. Hailey was actually Aimee’s older sister but you could tell that Aimee wasn’t a fan of her either. Hailey would be described best as the exact opposite of Megan. There are plenty of other words that may describe her but this is the most appropriate. Hailey was always really rude to Megan. But Megan wouldn’t say or do anything about it because she never really stood up for herself. That’s why Hailey found her as an easy target.

The next couple of months there was a ton of drama and rumors going around at school and at home. Megan was trying to make everything better and try to talk to everyone and make sure they didn’t hate her. Aimee was the only one that understood and believed Megan. Megan was getting so frustrated. She couldn’t take it. No one believed her. Soon she found out Hailey was the master mind of this big charade. She lied to everyone and made them hate her. Megan secretly new that it was Hailey well she thought. So before she for sure found out she told Hailey of she said everything that was on her mind she was able to tell Hailey how she really felt about her and how she was not a good person. She also told the boys that she was sick of being treated like an immigrant in their territory and that she equally shares this house has a family with them at that all these little fights between brothers were ridiculous and they needed to stop. Now.

After that all was good Hailey was being nice to Megan and actually sat by her at lunch, the only reason was that her friends wouldn’t let her sit by them. At home they boys stopped fighting and everything was all better.
Haha NOT! Megan was hanging out with one of the brothers Fin for I while because he was pretty much the only person in the house who actually understood her. And then he kissed her. Then Regina his mom walked and she was ferreted. She started yelling at Megan but Finn came in and saved her and he said it was his fault because he kissed her. Megan thought this was a very noble thing for him to do. All though she was not grounded in was. And yet again the boys turned on her.

Now Megan was done she didn’t want to be here anymore. So she was planning on leaving to go live with her parents in Vietnam . She was torn, she wanted to stay but she couldn’t. She was just going to leave and be strong about it but she wasn’t strong about this she was holding down her actual feelings. So she left before she didn’t have to think about it anymore.
Eventually Doug one of the boys that didn’t really like her that much came to the airport and tried to get her to stay. She wanted to stay strong and not go back with him but he persuades her.
Once they got back home everyone was making her feel like she belonged, a sister. She was home. Everything was better and trust and honesty were in the air.
By the end of the book Megan was now a well spoken girl never afraid to tell anyone anything about how she was feeling about the way they acted or what they said. Actually a couple of times she was surprised what came out of her own mouth. I was to.
