Realistic

What do you feel when you wake up
The shock of life run through your body
Yet you are not sure why you are here
You get ready and walk out the door
The grass so green
The sun so bright
A painted portrait among the horizon
Nothing but the whisper of the wind
As you trail down the street
Everything's so peaceful you try not to speak
Soak up the beauty
But who's to say this isn't a dream
It feels so realistic as the sun comes into view
You try to stay calm as you realize it's time to open your eyes
The alarm screeches says it's 6:35
Time to say your finale goodbyes
Step into the real world
Try not to cry as you primp your hair
and color your eyes
Head to work what a surprise
Just 8 more hours till you are able to arrive
to that place called your dreams
Maybe one days you'll open your eyes
See that portrait and wonder
Is this real life?

Wash Me

"Wash me" yeah that sounds like a good idea. Can't you honestly just scrape up some change in your cup holder and go through the car wash. It is just humiliating. How would you feel if some one putting a not on your back saying "I need a shower." Why would you let me get this dirty? Don't you no how to take car of things that get dirty. I don't suspect you let your children run around in public with mud a snot streaking down there face. You would give them a bath. That’s what I need, a bath. Plus how can you see through me, through all this gross mud an dirt. Do you really walk around with your glasses full of dust do you? Well lets just say I am not pleased with your inconsiderate actions. Please take me to the car wash!

Hidden Trace

Sitting alone towards the back of the town diner, you mind your own business and drink your coffee. You get up to leave, putting both your hands on the table to support your weight. Then dig in your pocket for a couple singles then let them lay in the middle of the table. Then you glide across the floor and slowly slip out of the door. But what really happened was you took a drink and left behind a bit of saliva, then when you placed your hands on the table, you left behind fingerprints and skin cells, also when you dig through your pocket and grab out your change you leave behind some cloth fibers and again fingerprints. Then you push that door open you leave behind more skin cells and fingerprints. These are all traces of DNA leading back to you. “DNA fingerprinting” is everywhere you go (Cline). It has helped solve crimes for many years. Now a days the devolment of new technology has in the crime scene  investgation department has come a long way.

First, let me introduce you to the idea of DNA fingerprinting. All living things must have DNA. In humans and many animals, DNA is inherited from their parents. Your DNA is unique to you only if you don’t have an identical twin that is. (David F. Betsch).  Fingerprint is not referring to the funny swirls located on the pads of your fingers. It is reffering to the fact that your DNA is kind of similar to a fingerprint, you leave it behind where ever you go (Cline). Where do they find these cells with DNA you ask? Well, to that question the answer is; the different cells used to find a DNA fingerprint can be a skin cell, a hair root, or a cheek cell which is in your mouth and is spread with your spit. This is because your unique DNA is the same in all your cells (Cline). But did you know this type human indentification was not introduced until 1987 (Cline). Since then it has grown to be very helpful in solving crimes.

Second, let’s see what the process of analyzing DNA fingerprints. Unlike a fingerprint from your hand, police can’t just find it by “dusting the prints.” Scientists actually have to take the DNA out of the nucleus of a cell (Cline). But what do they do with the DNA after they have dissected it from the nucleus?  They take it and analyze it to show the differences of DNA with different people (Cline). They are able to take in this information then use it to find lost children or the criminal of a murder. Every individual has different DNA fingerprints the police are starting a program so they can collect DNA from everyone in the U.S. (David F. Betsch). This will help the development of investigation an stop criminals faster so they don’t havetime to strike again.

Lastly to fully understand how DNAfingerprinting works we have to meet the master minds who spend their days in the lab trying to solve the crimes. The forensic scientists. For scientest to be able to look into an investigation they have to have som eveidence, such as a weapon or maybe a hair folical. Also if there is a dieceased body on the premisies they can clean under nieth there finger nails to see if the attackers skin cells have been left behind. Those are ways that Police and scientiest use DNA fingerprinting, but they can actually use other ways like collecting actual fingerprints. There are two methods that police use to collect finger prints. One is to dust the surface with a powder that has aluminum in it because aluminum is met also it reflects off the light. Then the take pictures of the object with the finger print. Then they lift the print using transparent tape. The other way that police can find finger prints is a laser. A laser is a good way to find finger prints where police wouldn’t think of looking (Parker). These two ways definatly beat “man measurement” which was used by police in the early days before all this fancy technology exsisted. They believed that new two men had the same body measurments (Parker). Then they came acrossed fingerprints and all that changed.

In conclusion, DNA fingerprinting has proven to be very helpful to those in the criminal investigation field.  If it wasn’t for new technology people would have their forearms measured to prove guilt or innocence. DNA fingerprinting is defiantly the best way to solve crimes. Honestly you have left behind at least two different types of DNA reading this paper.

"Twilight" vs. "The Hunger Games"

Authors Note~ This is an essay demonstrating text to text analysis.

50% of the audience polled said, that they liked "The Hunger Games." 29% said they liked "Twilight." The other percentages said they liked both or neither. Both of these series of books are very popular but, one has to come out on top. Teens everywhere are so blinded by the compassion and love contributed through these two books. Do they realize that these books have nearly the same plot?

First, let's take a look into Bella's life. Bella is a 17 year old girl who lives in gloomy Forks, Washington. Shortly after her arrival, she falls in love with Edward Cullen.  Bella depends on Edward to protect her 100%. She later finds out that Edward is a vampire.  This doesn't scare Bella away. Secretly her old hometown friend Jacob wishes it did. After a while she has to make a choice, Edward or Jacob? She chooses Edward. Later on they get married. Only then, Bella is no longer the lame duck and she has found the power to "'shield" herself and her loved ones.

On the other hand Katniss, is a 16 year old girl who lives in gloomy District 12. She has volunteered to be a tribute in the 75th annual Hunger Games. Katniss  volunteered in place of her 12 year old sister Prim.  Katniss is very independent and she proves that throughout the games. Until she falls in love with the bakers son, her fellow tribute Peeta. Then all she allows herself  to do is make sure the two of them survive. Though surviving was her main focus, it caused trouble with her being ableto see the bigger picture and where she fits in. For example, how Gale really feels about her and how Peeta really loves her, even though it was supposed to be an act. But in the end,  she chose Peeta over Gale.

While these two characters lives and personalities seem different, the plot makes them seem alike. First off these two books are about a love triangle. Both triangle scenarios are the same. The girls must choose between a new love and an old friend. They would rather choose their new love, over their old friend. Also in common they are getting hunted by some one or something. Bella is being  hunted by vampires while Katniss is being hunted by tributes. They also both get  special treatment ,so to speak. Bella gets to become a family with vampires and be with the one she loves forever. While Katniss gets to survive the Hunger Games along with Peeta.  This helps keep their  inspiring love story alive.

All in all, these authors basically used the same plot and plugged in different characters.  I really like the twist that Stephenie Meyer and Suzanne Collins both added, it made the plot more unique. You would have never noticed before how close these books are in comparison until now. Good luck trying to picture Peeta with out seeing a blood sucking vampire.

Nature's Cry

Authors Note~  This a response to the two poems "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Field Below"

"Big Yellow Taxi" is about losing something that you are never able to get back. In this case it is nature being destroyed. That is also the same for the poem "Field Below"." Big Yellow Taxi" When I listened to this song it does not seem sad. It seems happy and catchy. Does not seem like the author is sad about losing her paradise. When I listened to the song "Field Below"  I could definitely here the sad nice in her voice her you could really tell that she was yearning for something bright and happy. Something that she doesn't have now. I really think that the mood and tone of the poem and the mood and tone of the song match up really well and you can feel her sadness.

Parody

Author's Note: This is a parody to the poem, Just to Say. This poem is based off of Where The Heart Is, by Billie Letts. Enjoy! :)
I left you.
At Wal-Mart
While you were in the bathroom.

I waited for you,
You were taking to long,
So I drove on

Sorry to say
but I have a record now
I'm way better off
 So glad, I left.

This parody is about the book, Where the Heart Is, by Billie Letts. Willy Jack leaves this note outside of Wal-Mart when Novalee comes back and finds it. It explains why he left her all alone with the baby! The speaker is Willy Jack and the audience is Novalee. The tone of the poem Is sorry and sad In the beginning but then rude at the end! The mood is dreadful the whole way through!

What is Free?

Authors Note: This is a research paper for Social Studies. I would like for it to be graded on the writing rubric.

“Why should I strive and acquire all the constituents of a man if the privileging of the land admit me not as such, or but in an inferior degree! Pardon me if I feel insignificant and weak….”  These words are spoken from an African American student who lived in New York City in 1819. His bitter words help us understand that blacks in the North were not as free as they should have been. Blacks in the north were legally free but not treated as equals.

First, they had more freedom then the blacks in South.  One example is they didn’t have to serve the whites. They were not sold in to slavery like the blacks who lived in the South. Although the blacks in the North were not treated like farm animals, they had all the rights of a stray dog. They were not allowed to eat at the same table with the whites; also the whites would not associate with them. Though they were not showered with hatred, they were not bathed with respect.

However, blacks in the North were not able to be a part of a community unless they belonged to a church. There they were able to print a newspaper and have Sunday school. They had clubs and got to be a part of something more important than their race. The question is; if the blacks were free then why were the churches segregated? Shouldn’t the blacks and whites be able to praise God in the same building? Also what happens to the black people who do not go to church or do not have the same religion? Well they are turned away; they have no rights in the community. They just have to sit back and let everyone do everything for them which doesn’t help them want to succeed or strive to be in power of who they are or who they could be.

Even as “free” blacks they did not have the same rights of any other man. They were not allowed to vote or be part of a jury. There was only one state out of the “free states” that allowed black men to vote. That state was Massachusetts. This is more proof that the blacks were not equal. They were not allowed to take the equivalent amount of actions as the white men. They were declined the ability to have any power or say in our country.

Lastly the education of young children was unfair. The schools in the North were segregated. It’s like sorting laundry keeping the whites with the whites and the blacks with the blacks. That does not sound free. When you separate kids at a young age you are not really teaching them any good morals. You are teaching the white kids that they have all the power and they can be as rude as they want to the blacks. This makes the blacks feel worthless.

“Why should I strive…” This question should have never been asked. If the blacks were free, they would never feel this way. They should have been treated the same; equal. Then they would be free.

"Mother to Son"

Authors Note: This is a context and word choice response on "Mother to Son".

In the poem "Mother to Son" by Langston Hughes we encounter the tender words of a women  speaking words of encouragement to her son . "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair." This is the main metaphor and message through out the poem. That message; stay strong. The author wanted the readers to read this and feel as though they are able to make it through the hard times. The authors tone is easy to pick up in this poem. He is trying to tell us that mother is fighter and no matter how hard her life was she got through it, and as a mother she wants to see her son do the same.

Willy Jack

Authors Note~ This is my character disruption using word choice and context.

Life is rough for Willy Jack. He isn't the most idle roll model. He talks a big game, but when its time to  play he backs down like a coward. Running away yet still holding on to his dignity. As short and greedy as a leprechaun, he  will do anything for a bit a cash. Searching the seats in his Plymouth to scrape up some coins is one of his finest hobbies. With out a care in the world he strides through a room lurking for attention, from anyone who will give it to him. He fed off the emotions of women the way Dracula would fed off of innocent children.

Match Made In Heaven

Authors Note~ This is a predicting piece on my independent book Matched.

All choices are made for you. When you live in the Society, Officials choose who you will love, where you will work, and when you will die. In the book Matched  by Ally Condie, seventeen year old Cassia was born into the Society. It is a different way of living, but yet very safe. At age seventeen you will either get Matched or be voted to be a Single. When Cassia turned seventeen she was psyched for her Match Banquette. She was Matched with someone in her town. That someone was her best friend Xander. Though a malfunction in the micro card and she sees another boy; Ky,  has Cassia wondering... Is Xander really her true Match?

Unfortunately for Cassia, I doubt that Xander is truly her Match.  It wouldn't make since considering they are in the same town and are best friends. It doesn’t often turn out that two best friends get Matched with each other. It's so rare. I know this because after these two young people were matched the town was in an up roar.

I see this novel ending the way "The Boys Next Door" did. Lori thought she was in love with Sean. Yet she is still trying to figure out if he is. Later she finds herself in love with Adam. She went through the whole summer filled with adventure just to find out she thought she was in love with the wrong guy. That is going to happen to Cassia she is going to  go this whole book thinking that she has to love Xander, but curiosity rules and she goes through all the trouble and a few broken rules just to get close to Ky. I see her getting in trouble with the Officials, why Ky is an "Aberration," meaning he could never get Matched . Even though she says, "Officials don't make mistakes," she is starting to question if Ky is really the one who was meant to be with her and the Officials are just hiding everything from her.

In my eye's this is how the book will end. Cassia finds a hidden secret, the secret of her true match. She will find that Xander is just a cover for the mistake that the city Officials thought the Matched Officials made. When really Ky was the one meant for her. That probably had it planned all along that Cassia and Ky were Matched. Though Ky is and Aberration it is at no fault of his own, but only his fathers. Then he moved to the same Province as Cassia and Xander to live with his Aunt and Uncle, which throws everything off. There solution is having Xander Matched with Cassia to rise a little excitement instead of Matching Cassia with an Aberration and causing a riot.

The Road to a New Beginning

Author’s Note~ This essay is analyzing a quote from the book “Rules of the Road”. I am describing the meaning of the quote and why it is so important.

Has there ever been a time in your life when nothing feels simple? Everything that you know is just frustrating and you don’t want to have to deal with having to be the bigger person. In the book "Rules of the Road" by Joan Bauer, we meet a young sixteen year old girl named Jenna. She is a shy girl who doesn't speak for herself. That is, until she gets sent on a road trip with her boss Mrs. Gladstone. Both of these ladies go around the country visiting all of the Gladstone shoe stores. At one point Jenna says, “I think Texas makes you think about things in a bigger way or I've never been anywhere that changed me so much." That’s when Jenna becomes proud of the person she is.
These confident words were spoken from our now not-so-shy Jenna after she spent the last three months on the road experiencing a change in the way she sees things. Everything is seen in a different perspective since she has been gone. For Example she has now had to become the customer at the stores they had visited so now she knows what it’s like to see thing from the buyer’s perspective. Also she must now be her own person and grow up a little bit. She has to handle things in a more adult way, since she doesn’t have anyone else to rely on. Of course she had Mrs. Gladstone around to keep her company so she doesn't feel so lonely. Yet she has a lot of responsibility making sure Mrs. Gladstone gets to her locations safe and sound. That's a lot a young lady must deal with.
Throughout their long journey Jenna was able to grow fond of her new companion Mrs. Gladstone. They went through a lot together. She helped Jenna see her life in a different way. With stories of when she was younger. She told Jenna "because you remind me of myself when I was a young girl." This proves their bond.
Jenna’s words about Texas were for Mrs. Gladstone. This was Jenna thanking her for all she has done. She wasn’t thrilled at first, yet she wanted the money. Then she realized it wasn’t so bad. Who would have thought that a 16 year old girl with a messed up family would get along so well with a rich snobby person who owns a bunch of shoe store all over the country. This journey with this woman really taught her a lot about life. Also she learned it is better to speak up then not speak at all.
In conclusion Jenna has learned to love the person she is. She might not be the pretty sister but she has a beaming personality and she is a wonderful shoe saleswoman. She is respectful, and caring. When she says at the end of this book, “I've never been anywhere that changed me so much," you can really tell how much she cares. Also you can tell how confident and proud she is.

To My Beloved Jenna

Authors Note~ Letter to Jenna from her mom.

Dear Jenna,

I am so sorry I got so worked up about you leaving. I now understand that this is a great opportunity for you and your work. Promise me that you won’t be spending all that money on something worthless. You have worked hard for it and you should save it for collage. It is important to get an education now a day. You don't want to be selling shoes all your life. I really miss you and hope to see you soon. I really hope that this is a positive thing for you and you will find your true self through all of this. Oh, and make sure you are save out on that road. It is a dangerous place for a young girl such as you. Also Mrs. Gladstone better return home safe and sound I don't want to get sewed for you lake of responsibility. Any way's good luck sweet heart and have a nice trip.

Love, Mom

It Just Takes Time

Authors Note~ This is a character development piece on Amy Nelson form the book my independent reading book "How To Ruin My Summer Vacation"
Who is Amy Nelson? This is the driving question that Amy is struggling to figure out. Amy is a 16 year old girl; of course she is confused about life and who she is. She needs to find herself, but where? Perhaps in the middle of a war zone. Her almost non-existing father finally came around again after a couple years. He wants Amy to travel on a 12 hour plane flight to Israel, where he grew up. He wanted Amy to be able to meet her ill Safta (Grandma in Hebrew). Amy not so fond of the idea was not to enthusiastic about spending her whole summer in such a dump. Little to her surprise her Safta had a bigger influence on her life than she had expected.

Amy a normal sixteen year old girl is stranded in a non-so normal environment. This city girl can’t get used to having sheep in her backyard. As a matter of fact she can’t  get used to having a backyard. Amy is all city she is not down to earth at all. She hates animals and anything that has to do with work, because she is afraid of breaking a nail. That goes to show she is not the kind of girl who voluntarily goes to a third world country for a whole three months.

Amy is all city but she is not  that stuck up. In a way her personality relates to mine. Amy much like me is an independent girl, we don't need someone telling us what we should and shouldn't do. The both of as are very opinionated and it is hard to change our view of things.  Also she doesn't really have filter on her mouth, she just says what she feels and  speaks without thinking how it may sound to another person. We wish things where simple, merrily perfect. And last but not least she can catch a bit of an attitude when things don't go the way she wants them too. That's definitely a mirror image of my personality. Though I am not the only person who relates to Amy, there is also Lori from "The Boys Next Door". These girls  are both strong and opinionated. Both of the girls have to go through a summer of misery to find themselves. The plots may be completely different but the characters are almost alike.

Throughout this book Amy shows us that she can get used to her new family and friends. This proves that Amy is a dynamic character. Her ill Safta has a lot to do with Amy's new view on life. Amy's Safta was her first friend in Israel. The first one who actually understood her. Amy learned a lot about her family and religion. While growing up in the states Amy didn't grow up with a religion, but now her Safta was sharing hers. Amy got a gift from her Safta it was a necklace with The Star Of David. At first she didn't realize how much she treasured that necklace and the stories she was told until the day she started taking conversion classes as soon as she arrived back in Chicago. Knowing her grandmother would be proud of her decision.

Non-so stuck up, but still pretty city Amy is bummed that she had to leave her adventure packed summer vacation in Israel. She was able to learn about the other half of who she is. Don't get me wrong she is still trying to find her place in the world. At least now her path is a bit clearer for now. Amy's Life will never be perfect, but that doesn't mean she is going to stop trying any time soon.

The Rode to a New Begining

Author's Note~ This is a quote analysis piece from the book "Rules of the Rode". This quotes was said by Jenna to Mrs.Gladstone on their way home fro they're cross-country rode trip.

" I think Texas makes you think about things in a bigger way or I've never been anywhere that changed me so much."

These confident words where spoken form our now not so shy Jenna after she spent the last months on the rode experiencing a change in the way she sees things. These words are spoken strong and confident. This shows us that Jenna is proud of who she now is.

The words where pointed towards Mrs. Gladstone. Saying thank you. She was thrilled that she was able to help this woman on this journey and it really taught her a lot about life. Also she learned it is better to speak up then not speak at all.

Conflict

Authors Note~ This is a short paragraph describing one of the main conflicts in the book "Rules of the Rode" by Joan Bauer

In this book the big conflict is Jenna wanting to go on this rode trip with Mrs. Gladstone. The reason why it is a conflict is because her mom doesn’t want her to leave . That makes it a person vs. Person conflict. The reason Jenna is wanting to leave because  she doesn’t want to put up with her alcholic father. She despises him. Her mom says that she shouldn’t run away from her issues. But it’s more than that because it is a good job opportunity. So Jenna could fix her problems with her mom by not going on this rode trip and try to ignore her father. Though that only makes her mom happy because now she still has to deal with her father coming around. Also she could stay and try to make things right. Confront her dad about these issues and try to get him some help. Then everyone will eventually be happy. Jenna just needs to figure out who she is and her parents are kind of holding her back so maybe just maybe this whole rode trip will be worth all the difficulty going on now.

Sweet Words

Author's Note~ This is a piece is about a quote in from "Thank You Ma'am"

"You ought to be my son. I would teach you right from wrong. Least I can do right now is to wash your face. Are you hungry?"

This quote shows that the woman is not mad at Rodger. The opposite actually. She wants to care for the boy so that he will make better decisions later on in life. She is showing the boy through love and not anger that he has done something wrong and it will be corrected.

In her eyes she sees a young boy who is struggling. She can't just a be stubborn and show him that there are other ways to get what you wont. Stealing is not one of them. She has to make the right choice and help the boy so he will make good decisions in the future.

Unforgettable

Authors Note~ This is a tragic romance creative piece.

It has now been 3 years. 3 years since he has seen her smile heard her laugh and felt her heart beat. It is April 13th the anniversary of their last moments together. Yet she has not left his heart. Her sprite still lives on in his heart. Since this day also marks Sophie's 27th birthday. He was taking her out on a date to her favorite restaurant. "Table for two" he corrects the woman as he walks in with no one by his side. He settles in the both across from his invisible wife.

"Hello sir, my name is Tammy I'll be your server tonight. Can I start you off with something to drink?"  John nodes in conformation and orders a soda. As Tammy turns to leave, He catches her attention one more time. "And a raspberry ice tea for the lady." Struck with confusion Tammy returns to the table with the drinks, and once again with their meals. "I think you got let down hon. why don't you go home I'll pick up the check."  John lets out in an stern voice. "What do you mean by let down? My wife Sophie is right here would you like to meet her?" without a pause he introduced the two young ladies. "Tammy this is Soph, Soph this is Tammy." Tammy felt bad for the lad and decided to shake hands with the cool air in front of her. Sophie was delighted to meet such I polite young woman and John could see it in her eyes when she smiled and shook Tammy's hand.

The cool night breeze filled the air and gave the night a bit of a chill. John was just happy to be having a wonderful evening with his wife. But he wishes he could see her more often he was only lucky on occasion. Almost as if she was reaching out to him. Lucky for him she was always there on the day of their anniversary. It was always a special day for the two of them, though she didn't say much. Just smiled and enjoyed the little time they had together till she was gone again.

Weeks go by without another trace of Sophie. John can only imagine how busy she must be catching up with her Grandparents so he thought nothing of it. He waited around every night for her to call to him. It has been months still no sign of her efforts. Still he waits. John decided he was going to try to reach out to her tonight.

The beautiful decor neatly placed around the apartment. The scent of sweet vanilla fills the air. A totally dreamy romantic dinner spread with a dazzling center piece, the focal point in the dim candle lit room. He stands back to admire his hard work. This has to be the romantic date that every woman as wished for John thought. No how could Soph resist. Yet Sophie was a no show.

A whole year had gone by without a sight of Sophie. It was yet again there anniversary of her death and her 28th birthday. He took his wife out to dinner again. As soon as he walked in the hostess remembered who he was. She grabbed up two dinner menus right away. "I'll only need one of those." John spoke in a glum voice. The hostess slowly set the other menu back o the podium. He lazily sat himself into the booth and opened his menu. Tammy came around and took Johns drink order. She came back with his soda and in her other hand was a raspberry ice tea. "What is this he asks." he asks in rage. Tammy was taken by such behavior. "I thought that Sophie might be thirsty." She spoke uncertain of herself. "Turns out Sophie will not be accompanying me tonight." he sad still very angry "And make sure I don't get charged for that drink." Tammy quickly scurries away drink in hand.

John made it home. Depressed he slouched on his coach kicked his feet up on the coffee table. Silenced filled the air. Until he heard a stern voice in the distance. "How many times do I have to tell you keep your feet of the furniture?"
He thought he was just hearing things but was able to get out a, "Sophie, is that you"
"John there has been something I have been meaning to tell you."
"Yes my love I-"
"I found someone else, I know you have only been gone for 4 years, but I took some time of thinking and I decided it would be good for me to move on."
What does she mean "you have only been gone 4 years."? She was the one who left. Move on from what he was the one who needed to move on she left him.
"I was so depressed for the last 3 years but then I found happiness in him. I still miss you and it should have been me and not you."
Me and not you this is not making any sense.
"I was the one who thought it would be a good idea for a motorcycle ride through the country. I would have never thought that deer would jump out in front of us."
What deer John has no memory of any type of motorcycle or deer in Sophie's death. Now that he thinks of it he doesn't remember Sophie's death at all. He just remembers waking up and her not being with him.
"I am really sorry John I wish you could see how sorry I really am. I miss you."

John lay awake restless that night. He was trying figure out the words that he had just heard his wife speak. He thought for hours but eventually dosed off. To only be awoken by a horrible nightmare that went a little something like this. It was Sophie's 24th birthday. John took her out to her favorite restaurant. There Tammy had served them there dinner. After they had finished their food, they led out to the busy city streets. The sweet melody of Sophie's voice asked "Can we take a ride out to the country on your bike?" John was hesitant because it was dark and he didn't know the country rode that well to begin with. But how can he upset his angle on her birthday. He agreed to her little scandal. It's is a wonderful night for a ride it wasn't too cold that April night and the stars were very bright without the city lights. John was taken away by the scenery. A little too much that he forgot to pay attention to the rode. Next thing he knows there is a deer neighboring his limp body on the pavement. Then all went black.

His eyes wide he was panting, gasping for air. Is this what Soph was talking about, with the deer. April 13th 2004 was not the night that Sophie died. "It was the night I died." John tried to wrap his head around it how could this be true. How could I see Sophie if she wasn't reaching out to me in the afterlife? She was praying for my safety. That’s why I only saw her on occasion she was telling me she was there for me.

Now she has moved on. Now it is my turn.  This would be what Soph would want for me, to stop worrying about her safety knowing now she was safe in another man’s arms. Now I must rest without a fright.

Fight to Freedom

Author's Note~ This is a my comparative essay from social studies. This piece is relating "The Patriot"  and the real events.

Betrayal. What does this word make you think of? Your little brother taking a ugly picture of you when you were sleeping and showing all his friend of you younger sister telling your mom that you stole money out of her purse when she wasn’t looking. But did this word ever date you back to the Revolutionary War. Well it should because that’s what this war was all about. The movie “Patriot” Really captured that. It was able to descriptively show us how much betrayal there really was. Yet there were something’s that it didn’t pursue very well.

Something’s that weren’t accurate include how fast the guns were loaded. There is no way that the guns were loaded as quickly as displayed in it took about thirty seconds to a minute each for each bullet to be reloaded. It wasn’t as easy as they made it seem. Also the accuracy was unbelievable, never a missed shot.  Plus Ben’s little boys that are around 6 years old being able to kill more than 4 people without even knowing how to hold a gun, no way.

It doesn’t end there. How did the Americans always know exactly where to find the British? Wasn’t it a little more difficult? More like a scavenger hunt. They were always showing up at the right place at the right time. Do you really think this is how it would of happened in reality? I don’t. Not only were the Americans quick so were the British the British were really able to yank at the heart of the Americans.

The target; Family. That was the British’s focus. If they were able to kill loved once then there was a chance that the Americans would retreat. So not only did these fighting men have to deal with losing their lives there was a chance that there family could be hurt or robed. Like both of bens sons who were killed. Also Gabriel’s wife burned in a church. This is similar to what really happened, houses burned. The way Aunt Scarlet’s was.

It is sad to think that this is really how these people acted towards each other. This movie is a good one to understand the basic betrayal behind the war but not a close to being a documentary. If you’re looking for facts not a good movie but if you want to understand what it felt like to be in the position for fighting in the war then this a great inspirational movie
