Sweet Words

Author's Note~ This is a piece is about a quote in from "Thank You Ma'am"

"You ought to be my son. I would teach you right from wrong. Least I can do right now is to wash your face. Are you hungry?"

This quote shows that the woman is not mad at Rodger. The opposite actually. She wants to care for the boy so that he will make better decisions later on in life. She is showing the boy through love and not anger that he has done something wrong and it will be corrected.

In her eyes she sees a young boy who is struggling. She can't just a be stubborn and show him that there are other ways to get what you wont. Stealing is not one of them. She has to make the right choice and help the boy so he will make good decisions in the future.

Unforgettable

Authors Note~ This is a tragic romance creative piece.

It has now been 3 years. 3 years since he has seen her smile heard her laugh and felt her heart beat. It is April 13th the anniversary of their last moments together. Yet she has not left his heart. Her sprite still lives on in his heart. Since this day also marks Sophie's 27th birthday. He was taking her out on a date to her favorite restaurant. "Table for two" he corrects the woman as he walks in with no one by his side. He settles in the both across from his invisible wife.

"Hello sir, my name is Tammy I'll be your server tonight. Can I start you off with something to drink?"  John nodes in conformation and orders a soda. As Tammy turns to leave, He catches her attention one more time. "And a raspberry ice tea for the lady." Struck with confusion Tammy returns to the table with the drinks, and once again with their meals. "I think you got let down hon. why don't you go home I'll pick up the check."  John lets out in an stern voice. "What do you mean by let down? My wife Sophie is right here would you like to meet her?" without a pause he introduced the two young ladies. "Tammy this is Soph, Soph this is Tammy." Tammy felt bad for the lad and decided to shake hands with the cool air in front of her. Sophie was delighted to meet such I polite young woman and John could see it in her eyes when she smiled and shook Tammy's hand.

The cool night breeze filled the air and gave the night a bit of a chill. John was just happy to be having a wonderful evening with his wife. But he wishes he could see her more often he was only lucky on occasion. Almost as if she was reaching out to him. Lucky for him she was always there on the day of their anniversary. It was always a special day for the two of them, though she didn't say much. Just smiled and enjoyed the little time they had together till she was gone again.

Weeks go by without another trace of Sophie. John can only imagine how busy she must be catching up with her Grandparents so he thought nothing of it. He waited around every night for her to call to him. It has been months still no sign of her efforts. Still he waits. John decided he was going to try to reach out to her tonight.

The beautiful decor neatly placed around the apartment. The scent of sweet vanilla fills the air. A totally dreamy romantic dinner spread with a dazzling center piece, the focal point in the dim candle lit room. He stands back to admire his hard work. This has to be the romantic date that every woman as wished for John thought. No how could Soph resist. Yet Sophie was a no show.

A whole year had gone by without a sight of Sophie. It was yet again there anniversary of her death and her 28th birthday. He took his wife out to dinner again. As soon as he walked in the hostess remembered who he was. She grabbed up two dinner menus right away. "I'll only need one of those." John spoke in a glum voice. The hostess slowly set the other menu back o the podium. He lazily sat himself into the booth and opened his menu. Tammy came around and took Johns drink order. She came back with his soda and in her other hand was a raspberry ice tea. "What is this he asks." he asks in rage. Tammy was taken by such behavior. "I thought that Sophie might be thirsty." She spoke uncertain of herself. "Turns out Sophie will not be accompanying me tonight." he sad still very angry "And make sure I don't get charged for that drink." Tammy quickly scurries away drink in hand.

John made it home. Depressed he slouched on his coach kicked his feet up on the coffee table. Silenced filled the air. Until he heard a stern voice in the distance. "How many times do I have to tell you keep your feet of the furniture?"
He thought he was just hearing things but was able to get out a, "Sophie, is that you"
"John there has been something I have been meaning to tell you."
"Yes my love I-"
"I found someone else, I know you have only been gone for 4 years, but I took some time of thinking and I decided it would be good for me to move on."
What does she mean "you have only been gone 4 years."? She was the one who left. Move on from what he was the one who needed to move on she left him.
"I was so depressed for the last 3 years but then I found happiness in him. I still miss you and it should have been me and not you."
Me and not you this is not making any sense.
"I was the one who thought it would be a good idea for a motorcycle ride through the country. I would have never thought that deer would jump out in front of us."
What deer John has no memory of any type of motorcycle or deer in Sophie's death. Now that he thinks of it he doesn't remember Sophie's death at all. He just remembers waking up and her not being with him.
"I am really sorry John I wish you could see how sorry I really am. I miss you."

John lay awake restless that night. He was trying figure out the words that he had just heard his wife speak. He thought for hours but eventually dosed off. To only be awoken by a horrible nightmare that went a little something like this. It was Sophie's 24th birthday. John took her out to her favorite restaurant. There Tammy had served them there dinner. After they had finished their food, they led out to the busy city streets. The sweet melody of Sophie's voice asked "Can we take a ride out to the country on your bike?" John was hesitant because it was dark and he didn't know the country rode that well to begin with. But how can he upset his angle on her birthday. He agreed to her little scandal. It's is a wonderful night for a ride it wasn't too cold that April night and the stars were very bright without the city lights. John was taken away by the scenery. A little too much that he forgot to pay attention to the rode. Next thing he knows there is a deer neighboring his limp body on the pavement. Then all went black.

His eyes wide he was panting, gasping for air. Is this what Soph was talking about, with the deer. April 13th 2004 was not the night that Sophie died. "It was the night I died." John tried to wrap his head around it how could this be true. How could I see Sophie if she wasn't reaching out to me in the afterlife? She was praying for my safety. That’s why I only saw her on occasion she was telling me she was there for me.

Now she has moved on. Now it is my turn.  This would be what Soph would want for me, to stop worrying about her safety knowing now she was safe in another man’s arms. Now I must rest without a fright.

Fight to Freedom

Author's Note~ This is a my comparative essay from social studies. This piece is relating "The Patriot"  and the real events.

Betrayal. What does this word make you think of? Your little brother taking a ugly picture of you when you were sleeping and showing all his friend of you younger sister telling your mom that you stole money out of her purse when she wasn’t looking. But did this word ever date you back to the Revolutionary War. Well it should because that’s what this war was all about. The movie “Patriot” Really captured that. It was able to descriptively show us how much betrayal there really was. Yet there were something’s that it didn’t pursue very well.

Something’s that weren’t accurate include how fast the guns were loaded. There is no way that the guns were loaded as quickly as displayed in it took about thirty seconds to a minute each for each bullet to be reloaded. It wasn’t as easy as they made it seem. Also the accuracy was unbelievable, never a missed shot.  Plus Ben’s little boys that are around 6 years old being able to kill more than 4 people without even knowing how to hold a gun, no way.

It doesn’t end there. How did the Americans always know exactly where to find the British? Wasn’t it a little more difficult? More like a scavenger hunt. They were always showing up at the right place at the right time. Do you really think this is how it would of happened in reality? I don’t. Not only were the Americans quick so were the British the British were really able to yank at the heart of the Americans.

The target; Family. That was the British’s focus. If they were able to kill loved once then there was a chance that the Americans would retreat. So not only did these fighting men have to deal with losing their lives there was a chance that there family could be hurt or robed. Like both of bens sons who were killed. Also Gabriel’s wife burned in a church. This is similar to what really happened, houses burned. The way Aunt Scarlet’s was.

It is sad to think that this is really how these people acted towards each other. This movie is a good one to understand the basic betrayal behind the war but not a close to being a documentary. If you’re looking for facts not a good movie but if you want to understand what it felt like to be in the position for fighting in the war then this a great inspirational movie

Bad Mistake

Authors Note~ This is a short retelling piece on the short story "Dead Man's Path"

Mr. Obi never knows when to quit his act of being self absorbed. Very intelligent but at the same time very stupid. He is a modern man, that's pretty much his job he is trying to modernize an out of date school. Yet there is something weird about the villagers walking through the school yard to a path. It's causing issues because it is making it his school look sloppy and not put together well. His problem is he can't under stand the sentimental values of this path to the villagers. This is the path to the burial grounds of their ancestors. A path that connects them. Mr. Obi was warned so his poor mistake led him to a horrible up bringing with the school inspector during his visit. The flowers  and push a mess, not very appealing. Maybe Mr. Obi should learn not to mess with the ancestors.

In Reality

Authors Note~ This is my comparative essay. In each paragraph I am comparing and contrasting my book the Soldier's Secret to actual events in the Revolutionary War.

Courage, Bravery, and Strength. Without these three traits  there is no way you could be apart of the Revolutionary War. The men, or should I say men and woman who fought in this war had all of  the above. Especially the young woman who goes by the name a Deborah Sampson. We are introduced to this extraordinary women in the novel Soldier's Secret. This book is written by Shelia Solomon Klass, she is helps fill in the blanks for us to create Deborah's character. Almost as if Deborah wrote it using her own words. The events that happened felt almost to real. Though that would be impossible considering the fact it is an historical fiction. Though the events were still pretty similar. Even though there are some similarities between the events there are also many differences.

The differences aren’t to drastic. For example in the book The Boston Tea Party was a little more exciting for Deborah than many other people in town because it was the night before her birthday. The  only real difference was the feelings through this event. In the actual event the man were more excited about it because they understood politics. Since women were not allowed to understand politics the weren't filled with as much glee. Then there's Deborah a young women who lived for adventure doing all she was not allowed and sneaking around the town over hearing the men's intriguing conversations about this glorious event she was extremely happy.  Some similarities include the tactics that Paul Revere and John Hancock. These two men led eighty other men dressed as Indians  to the English boats. This was true the mean disguised themselves as Natives to sneak on board the ships to sabotage their tea because of tax. They became heroes after such deed. That's what led Deborah to think why couldn't she dress as a man to fight in the war and become a heron. Well the thought took her to some forbidden places.

She took herself looking like a hansom young man to sign up for the war. For her this was a simple task. There was no wife, or mother, or children to beg for her to not go. She had no family to worry about hurting. She knew the consequences for getting caught so she had to be extra careful. It was harder to be a women in the war because she had to learn how to be a man. Plus she had to try not to fall in love with her many tent mates. She had to take care of her womanly friend with out making anyone suspicious. For the normal men all they had to do was fight. They didn't have to worry about hiding there true self.

This book and the characters are fictional that doesn't mean it didn't feel real. The way that the characters reacted to one another. The picture was clear and you were able to understand each scene clearly like you were there standing in the middle of the battle field. This book was able to paint a picture more vivid than any old textbook could. It mad you want to learn about the extra events that were just mentioned so you could understand the background better.

As you can see there are plenty of differences as well as similarities between the events in the book and the real events that actually occurred. Though I think Deborah's side was more exciting and adventures. Also they are both very interesting and make you want to learn more about the Revolutionary War. The way it made me.

What Will The Future Hold

Authors Note: This is a predicting piece on the book i have just recently reading called "The Boys Next Door"
In the book "The Boy's Next Door" Lori the not so girly girl decides this summer is going to be different. She thinks it is a good idea for her to grow up a little bit to show her crush that she has what he wants. Her plan is working! He is flirting back everything is going great. Though now it seems like she is having feeling for Sean's brother Adam. Yet, she can't see it, but she can totally feel it. My thoughts about what may happen later on is that Adam and Lori are going to fall in love. Adam is going to break up with Rachel because she cheated on him with Sean. Since that night Lori and Adam both felt betrayed so they are going to have to stick together to not get hurt again. Lori hasn't noticed that Adam is the perfect romantic sweetheart she's been looking for. She still wants the jerky guy who hasn't really cared to be her friend till now.Plus Adam has been acting kind of weird about her ploy to get Sean this summer. Probably because he wants her for himself and it would kill him to see her with Sean. She would be better off with Adam anyways because he sees the good in her and understands her. I hope she picks Adam i think it will be good for her.
