What is patriotism? Merriam-Webster defines patriotism as love or devotion for ones country. Patriotism has a different face for everyone. Some may believe it is not as important as others. All though in my opinion it is a very important part of or nation.
First of all everyone may believe that they are patriotic. But, what truly makes one patriotic. One may say they love living in the United States so does that make them patriotic? Patriotism is probably the hardest word to to define in todays society because everyone has their own believes on patriotism. People may believe that all you have to do is say they "Pledge of Allegiances" when you go to school or sing the National Anthem when you go to a baseball game. But there is more to it. Patriotism is about respecting our country and our flag. also respecting those who have shown patriotism through a major way, by joining the military
How ever not everyone dreams of joining the military. That doesn't mean that you're not patriotic. Patriotism can be shown through many other ways. Such as showing your thanks to the veterans. The best day to do that is on veterans day. Thank them for risking the their lives for us and having so much love and devotion for our country.
In other words we should be respectful for those who have made the dissociation to lead or country. So anytime you see our country's beautiful flag with the stars and stripes to represent the 50 states and the 13 colonies remember those who have worked on making our country such a wonderful place. Also every time you see the flag being carried by the color guard you should stand on your feet with your hand on your heart remembering the people risking their lives to help our country stay save. If I was in the military I would love to see how much my country believes in me and how much they care. When I turn 18 i would love the apparently to join the Air Force. I am hoping that everyone will be respecting our country and the freedom we have because of our veterans.
Over all we should all show patriotism more often then we do. Because it's more important than some may think it is. And this veterans day show all our respect to those who have been lost or have served in any of these wars through out the years.
