"The Pearl" Will the pearl ruin Kino's family?

All Juanna wants is for the pearl to be gone. She thinks that it is changing Kino in a bad way. He is acting different he is being greedy and he is thinking more about the pearl than his actual family. He is more alert to. He woke up in the middle of the night and he felt someone lurking in the shadows so he got up and moved the pearl under his mat. Then someone broke into his house and tried to steal the pearl and he was really angry when this happened he was saying that he wanted to get a gun so that he can protect the pearl.
